Leadership

I recently ran my engine too hard, and my check engine light came on. It was a reminder to take a break.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still advocating for disability rights, but I’ve realized that not every battle is mine to take on. A leader’s job is to sometimes guide or just be a cheerleader. Thank you to all the leaders who guided me and cheered for me.

I still plan to be out in front for issues that matter to me, but one of the things a leader does is support others from behind to find their voices. I want others to use my knowledge, and the knowledge that other leaders gave to me, to help plan so they are heard and can create change within the systems that help them live their best lives.

It's time to come out from behind the curtain, as a dear friend once told me.
